FUNERAL SERVICES SATURDAY FOR C. N. WALDEMAR, 18 Nov 1947
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, 22 Nov 1947 for
Charles N. Waldemar at the home of his son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Moline, at 2 o'clock. Rev. C. Ivar Peterson
conducted the service with a Bible reading and prayer given by
Rev. H. Lester Peterson. Rev. Alrik Blomquist sang a vocal solo
and a vocal duet was sung by Reb. and Mrs. Carl Holmberg. Interment
was made in theWaldemar lot in the Kiron Cemetery.
Charles N. Waldemar was born 18 May 1863 at Skåne, Sweden.
At the age of two he came to this country with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs Peter Waldemar (Waldemar Peterson) to Swede Bend, near
Stratford, Iowa. Two years later the family moved to Kiron, where
he grew to manhood.
On 27 Dec 1888 he was united in marriage to Charlotta lundblad.
This union was blessed with 11 children, eight sons and three
daughters. Four children preceded him in death. Nathaniel died
in infancy in Kansas; Neri (Heri) died at Kiron at the age of
24; Phoebe died in Chicago where she was a nurse at the age of
25; and Benjamin died in Kiron in 1929 at the age of 20, and a
brother, August Waldemar, who died less than a year ago.(1946)
The Waldemars lived for the first seven years of their married
life on the home place south of Kiron.(Otter Creek Twp, section
24). In 1896 they moved to Ellis, Kansas where they stayed for
three years and then moved back to Kiron, purchasing the farm
north of Kiron(Hayes Twp). Here they lived until 1912 when they
moved back to Kiron to farm again on the home place. In 1934 when
they moved to Groveland, Florida where they made their home until
last May when they came to Odebolt making their home with the
Ernest Molines until the new home they were building would be
ready for occupancy.
Mr. Waldemar's health has been failing somewhat in the last five
or six years, but he was able to be around. Last Sunday night,
however, he suffered a fatal heart attack which caused him to
pass away Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock at the age of 84 years,
5 months and 13 days.
He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, and seven children, Mrs.
Judith Moline of Odebolt; Rue of Oxley, Mo.; Mrs. Adeline Pearson
of Silverhill, Ala; John of Fairfax; Gilbert of Central City;
Clarence of Deloit and Rev. Sullivan Waldemar of Minneapolis,
Minn; one sister, Mrs. Alice Anderson of Los Angeles, Calif; 17
grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many other relatives
All the children and their families were present for the funeral.
Others attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Art Case of
Manning, Mr. and Mrs. Tobe Van Ness of Dunlap, Mrs. August Waldemar
of Woodbine, and Crystal Moline of Ames and Mr. and Mrs Forrest
Lewis of Forest City.
