Obituary of Alvin Winquist Who Died on July 20th

Alvin Winquist, son of John Winquist and Nellie Pearson Winquist, was born on September 1, 1886 in Stockholm Township, Crawford County.
Alvin was educated in Stockholm township, and it was also during these early years he received Jesus Christ as his Savior. Upon his baptism he was received into the membership of the First Baptist Church of Kiron on November 24, 1901. During his many years as a member of this church he served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Sunday School for 19 years. He also served as school director in this community for 13 years.
On March 20, 1912, Alvin was united in marriage to Frieda Andeberg of Gowrie. To this union were born eight children: Ruth, Mrs. Bert Berglund from Chicago, Illinois; Waldo of Kiron; Robert of Edmonds, Washington; Virginia, Mrs. Edmund Hunt of Des Moines; Eleanora, Mrs. Earl Otto of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Virgil of Denison; Florence of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Norma, Mrs. Robert Dueland of Des Moines.
He is survived by his wife, Frieda, his eight children, one sister, Mrs. Pearl Youngquist of Kiron, 2 brothers, Vernie and Jubel of Kiron, 11 grandchildren plus a host of relatives and friends.
Alvin passed away July 20, 1966 at the Lutheran Deaconess hospital in Minneapolis, where he had been ill for the past three weeks.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 25th at the Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Arthur Freeburg officiating. Mrs. Lewellyn Larson sang "God's Word and Promise" and "Near To The Heart of God" with Mrs. Ferne Wilson accompanying at the organ.
Pallbearers were Lewellyn Larson, Vernie Gronau, Walter Hansohn, Dennis Gustafson, Wallace Larson and Richard Gilmore.
Interment was in the Kiron Cemetery.
