1853 Map of Iowa

This map was probably composed before the completion of the survey activity that took place in the early part of the 1850's. Notice that the correction lines are not shown and that several counties have different names. Also, some counties are shown that no longer exist. Notice that Crawford county is shown as 24 miles x 24 miles. The location of the streams and lakes also give evidence of generalized not specific locations.
