The 1944 Tornado

Return to Stories

This is the farm located in the northwest corner of Wheeler Township section 21. The old Hiway #4 passed by the west side. In the corner was a large cement monument with the words "Cozy Corner". The storm had been wide and very erratic in its southwest to northeast travel path probably due to multiple funnels. As it progressed thru Wheeler township, it seemed to narrow and increase its fury. Such was the case as the storm bore down on "Cozy Corner". And then it was over as the storm itself disintegrated crossing the following miles over the ranch of the Adams family.
