ibid p. 96 7 June 1329 Robert Bruce died at Cardross. His body was buried at Dunformline, but in accordance with his dying wish, his heart was cut from it and carried on a crusade by Sir James Douglas. When it returned, it was given separate burial at Melrose Abbey.
