Last Will and Testament

I, Lorenzo D. Marsh of Cass County, Iowa make and publish this instrument as and for my last will and testament and I hereby revoke all other wills.

First: My debts and the expense of Administration are to first paid and my wife while she remains a widow shall designate what personal property shall be sold by the executrix of this instrument and the proceeds thereof applied as heretofore directed.

Second: All that parcel of land known as the North West quarter of the South East quarter of Section number nineteen (19). Town Seventy Five (75) North of Range thirty six (36) West of the Fifth principal meridian, I bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah Marsh .

Third: All that parcel of land known as the North East quarter of the South East quarter of Section number nineteen (19) town Seventy five (75) North Range thirty six (36) West, I bequeath to my son Isaac Marsh .

Fourth: All that parcel of land known as the South East quarter of the South East quarter of Section number nineteen (19) town seventy five (75) North of Range thirty South West , I bequeath to my son Enoch W. Marsh .

Fifth: All that parcel of land known as the South West quarter of the South East quarter of Section number (19) towns Seventy five (75) North Range thirty six (36) West, I bequeath to my daughter Hannah Almeda Marsh .

Sixth: All that parcel of land known as the North West quarter of the South West quarter of Section number Twenty (20) town (75) North Range thirty six (36) I bequeath to my daughter Harriet Evaline Marsh .

Seventh: All that parcel of land known as the North East quarter of the South West quarter of Section number twenty (20) town Seventy five (75) North of Range thirty six (36) West, I bequeath to my son William W. Marsh .

Eight: All that parcel of land known as the South East quarter of the South West of Section number twenty (20) towns Seventy five (75) North of Range thirty six (36) West, I bequeath to my daughter Rachel Emily Marsh .

Ninth: All that parcel of land known as the South West quarter of the South West quarter of Section number twenty (20) town Seventy five (75) North Range thirty six (36) West, I bequeath to my son James Reuben Marsh. (PHOTO)

Tenth: All that parcel of land known as the North East quarter of the North West quarter of Section number twenty nine (29) township Seventy five (75) North Range thirty six (36) West except one acre out of the South East corner, I bequeath to my son Lorenzo D. Marsh all the lands heretofore described being in Cass County, State of Iowa. (PHOTO)

Eleventh : I also bequeath to my beloved wife all of the following described Real Estate towit: Beginning at the South East corner of the South half of the North West quarter of Section number eight (8) in township number Seventy five (75) North of Range thirty six (36) West in the county of Cass and State of Iowa thence running north eighty rods thence west twenty rods, thence south eighty rods, thence East twenty rods to the place of beginning the same containing ten acres of land. Also, I bequeath to her, my wife Hannah Marsh all the remainder of my personal property after my debts and the expenses of Administration are paid including my bounty, both home and Government as a volunteer from the township of Cass, County of Cass and State of Iowa and ten dollars of my wages for each month I am in the service of the United States but excepting my bay mare which I bequeath to my son Isaac and I hereby appoint Hannah Marsh as Executrix.

The foregoing instrument of writing was signed and published by Lorenzo D. Marsh of Cass County, Iowa as and for his last will and testament in our presence on this day and we have at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other hereto signed our names as attesting witnesses thereof this 12th day of January A.D. 1874.

I, J. K. Powers clerk of the circuit court in and for said county do hereby certify that on this day at the March term A.D. 1873 of said court the will and instrument in writing hereunto annexed and bearing date on the 12th day of January 1874 was duly proved and allowed by said court as and for the last will and testament of the ____ and personal estate of Lorenzo D. Marsh late of said county deceased and was by said court ordered to be recorded as such will and testament. In witness of I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said court at my office at Atlantic in said county this 24th day of March A.D. 1873
