Buchanan County, Missouri.
4. This same land location and legal description fits the Family Legend.*
*Legend has it that David Louis Harned came to Missouri with his money hidden
in a trunk. He practiced medicine at Weston, Platte, MO for awhile;
and then pre-empted a farm 1 1/3 miles west of Rushville, Buchanan Co, MO
on the bank of the Missouri River. "Newspaper obituary"
5. Alice (McGuffin) Harned & David Harned are listed in a land Indenture
Hardin Co, KY 12 Nov 1856 of (Samuel) McGuffin heirs. Thus David Harned
is sure to have been living in 1856 at the time of this land sale, for
he is listed with Alice Harned.
6. This same land location in #3 above (S22 T56 R37) appears in a deed
23 Feb 1861 with the names: David Harned, Samuel Harned, Thomas Harned.
7. Thus showing the David Harned, Samuel Harned,and Thomas Harned, sons of
David Louis Harned I, as they were located in census records in Missouri
during this same time period.
8. This same land description in #3 above (S22 T56 R37) appears in a deed
14 Oct 1865 with the names Aby(Aley) & Susan M. Harned
9. Susan Harned married Charles A. Nelson on 23 Mar 1864 ,Buchanan, MO
IGI LDS # 1004802. This would suggest that David & Aby(Aley) may have
had a daughter Susan M. Harned.
Arthur L. Keith, THE HARNED FAMILY, The New York Genealogical & Biographical
Record, Vol LXI, p 34, (Jan 1930). "David, united with Union Church, Jan
1822, excommunicated April 1828. Married (1831) but died soon after, sine
prole. *The items about death & sine prole thought to be an error due to
recent data found in the Missouri Archives at Jefferson City, MO.

Ruth Harned 15 Nov 1992 phone interview. 1900 MO Census Soundex.
"The Harned family as remembered by Edna Harned Brack in her own words." noted
that Donald Harned never married. His occupation was driving a stage coach
drawn by six horses from Rawlins to Baggs, Wyoming. He also became a ranch
hand which consisted of herding cattle, sheep and training wild horses and
raising feed for livestock. Later years he herded 400 to 500 sheep. He
used a covered wagon to sleep and cook his meals. One time his wagon caught
fire and he tried to save a few things. In doing so he was burned severly...
