John Harned was elected County Surveyor for the newly established
Garrett County (Maryland) and held that office for sixteen years.
In 1867 John Harned & Adeline Weimer Harned moved to West Liberty, IA, where
she died, leaving 4 children, who remained in the West.* John Harned
returned to the East in 1870 and married Annie B. Davis, daughter of
Joseph B. Davis. John Harned's third wife was Mrs. David Freeland.
Late in life he returned to West Liberty, IA, where he died & is buried.
