days apart, one on Sept. 30, 1851, the other on Oct. 13, 1851, but does not
state which died on which day. They settled soon after marriage on Oven Creek,
near Parrottsville, Tennessee, where some of their descendants still reside."

He served in the Union Army as member of Co's H and K of the 4th New York
Heavy Artillery and the 18th V.R.C. as a sharpshooter, and was wounded in
1864 at Spotsylvania Court House. Following Lincoln's assasination, he was
a guard at Washington, DC. About 1875 they relocated to Avon, Livingston Co,
NY near Rochester. At South Avon (Guilderland) he owned a paper mill where
daughter Allie worked as bookkeeper. He is buried at Greenfield Cemetery.
