Claudia H Wade, Resident Here Many Years, Dies
Claudia Hilman Wade, 82, Helena resident for nearly 70 years and widow of the late John W. Wade, well known civil engineer, died this morning at St. Peter's hospital, where she had been a patient the past several weeks.
Mrs. Wade was born June 15, 1869, at West Salem, Ohio, the oldest of four children of Capt. and Mrs. John Roland Hilman. In 1876 the family moved to Toronto and came to Montana five years later, settling at Coulson, near the present site of Billings.
The family moved to Helena when Mrs. Wade was 14 years of age.
She was married here March 27, 1887 to Mr. Wade, who died Oct. 30, 1922.
Mrs. Wade was a member of St. Peter's Procathedral and for a number of years was active in the Cathedral guild.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. W. L. Fitzsimmons and Esther Wade Hughey, both of Helena; a son, Dr. Preston A. Wade of New York City; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The Body is at Retz funeral home.
