The fisherwomen. This scene overgrown with trees, shrubs, brush and vines are typical of the banks of the small rivers emerging from the limestone aquifers west of San Antonio and Austin. These include the Nueces, Sabinal, Frio, Medina, the San Antonio, and the Guadalupe (the bigger one) Rivers. It must have been very difficult to manipulate the long cane poles between the encroaching overhang of tree limbs.
