Pneumonia resulting from an attack of influenza caused the death
of Mrs.
Von W. Hollinger at her home on South Bluff St. at an early hour
last
Friday morning. Mrs. Hollinger had been ill only a few days
but her
condition was critical most of the time.
Mrs. Hollinger was formerly Miss Esther Gordon, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs.
James H. Gordon of Chicago. She was united in marriage to
Von W.
Hollinger three years ago and came to Monticello to make her home,
Mr.
Hollinger being employed as a foreman at the Thread Mills.
Since her
removal to this city she has made many friends, who deeply regret
her
untimely death. She was very popular in the work of the Presbyterian
church and will be dorly missed there. She was a talented singer,
as is
also her husband, and together they gave assistance in all musical
efforts make in the city. At the Community Sing on September
29, Mrs
Hollinger sang in a quartet and many people will remember her from
that
appearance.
She is survived by her husband, her parents, three sisters and one
brother who is in France. The remains were taken to Chicago
oner the
Monon, at 9:52 Saturday morning and funeral services were held at
Glenn
Ellyn, a suburb of Chicago and her former home.
