I descend from Rev. Thomas Hollinger Gaines of Green Co., KY b 1759
Sarah White. His parents were Richard Gaines and MIldred Hollinger. Can
anyone tell me who their parents were?

I have Richard Gaines and Dorothy Rawlings as the parents of
Mildred Hollinger. I believe I have also seen this as Catherine Rawling(s).
I have his DOB as 1686 in New Kent Co, VA and his DOD as 1756, Culpepper
Co, VA. This is from the book, Descendants of Thomas Gaines of Virginia by
Carol A. Hauk. A Compilation of Gaines Family Data with Special Emphasis
on the Lineage of William and Isabella Pendelton Gaines by Calvin E.
Sutherd shows this Richard Gaines' wife as being unknown. I believe I am
also descended from this line through another son, Robert, md. Ursula. The
evidence for your Richard and my Robert as being sons of this Richard is
only circumstantial per Sutherd's book. I assume this means the links are
not proven in strict genealogical terms. I am still working on the
Richard<-> Robert, md. Ursula connection. If you have any information on
this I would really appreciate it.

I am wondering if anyone can help me with this. My Gt Grandmother,
Fleece Gaines-Smith b 1884 d 1969 told me this story.
She said that our ancestor DR. THOMAS HOLLINGER GAINES b 1792
Soldier in the War of 1812 and also the only physician in Green (later
Taylor Co., KY).
She said that during a Cholera epidemic in the south, he left his
go south to stay and care for family who were ill with Cholera. I believe
if, I remember
correctly these people were in New Orleans. Can anyone of the southern
Gaines family tell me who this southern family might have been that my Dr.
Thomas Hollinger Gaines took care of?
Marsha, please keep me posted on this. I am a Hollinger desc. and
Malone worked at St Stephens for the Indian agent Gaines and with Lt,
arrested Aaron Burr. Malone was from Warren Co., N.C., as I suspect Gaines
was. Thomas Malone's wife was Mrs. Mary S. Malone, possibly a Gaines in
N.C. or Ala.? Jim
Surname: GAINES, WHITE, RAWLINS, PENDLETON
I descend from CATHERINE RAWLINS B BET 1680-1799 Md RICHARD GAINES of
Co., VA Then through one of their 9 children, RICHARD GAINES b 1726 md
to Mildred HOLLINGER and then through on of Richard and Milderd's 13
the Rev. Thomas Hollinger Gaines of the American Revolutionary War who
md SARAH WHITE of Charlotte Co., VA then of Green Co.,KY (later the Taylor
Co., area of Meadow Creek in Campbellsville, KY)
This same family of GAINES-RAWLINS-WHITE'S intermarried with the ROBERTSON
family of VA through the MARTHA ROACH and BENJAMIN ROBERTSON lines.
I saw the parents of PENDLETON CHAPMAN MOORMAN b Nov 28, 1799 md were
Venable MOORMAN and CATHERINE "Katy" WHITE.
I was wondering if this CATHERINE WHITE may have descended from the
the WILLIAM WHITE of Hanover and Louisa Co., VA which was the same WHITE
family of the above RAWLINS, GAINES, WHITE families.
