Dear Lynda,

Emma J. Palmer, 18, married Daniel McCowen, 19 April 1862.

In the Cemetery records I found in the Liberty Township Cem.

    Emma wife of Daniel 1847-1874

There was an interesting article in HISTORY OF SENECA  COUNTY, OHIO,
Warredn Beers and Co. Chicage 1886, so I copied it for you. p.939
John A. Hoover, farmer, P. O. Fort Seneca, was born in Pleasant
Township,
this county, 16 Sept 1839, son of Joseph and Catherine Gulmore Hoover.  He
learned and for a few years followed, the arpenter's trade.  He enlisted in
defense of his country, in the late war of the Rebellion in Co. K. 101
First
Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, serving abaout three years; was wounded
in
the breast by a shell at the Battle of Stone River; was at one time a
presoner of war, but was soon after recaptured.  After his discharge he
returned home and worked at his trade for a short time, and after operating
a
sash and door factory in Koscuisho County, Indiana for a year and a half,
returned to the County and purchased, and for about 12 years, operated a
saw
mill near Bettsville.  He subsequently sold this mill and in 1882 purchased
the farm in Pleasant Township, this county, which he now occupies.  Our
subject was married 12 May 1870, to Miss Fanny Palmer of Liberty Township,
this County, where she was born 22 Feb. 1851, daughter of Benjamin and
Lovina
Walsh, who came from Maryland at an early day.  To Mr. and Mrs. Hoover were
born five children:  Laura E., Ella L. Frank W. John A. and Fannie K.  Mr.
and Mrs. Hoover are members of the United Brethren Church.  Politically he
is
a Republican.
There is no Bettsville Cemetery listed in the Seneca County Cemetery
Records.  The address for the Bettsville Public Library is:  Bettsville
Public Library, 233 State Street, Bettsville, Ohio 44815, (419)986-5198.  I
was thinking that you might write or call them and see if they have the
cemetery records.  Is Lovina buried there also?
In the 1900 Census for Ohio, Fremont Township,  there is the following:
Richard Palmer, born Oct 1857, 42, born in Ohio.
Mary, born May 1860, 40, born in Germany

In 1920 soundex  Sanudsky, Fremont Towsnhsip, the following:
Richard Palmer, 62, born in Ohio
    Mary, 59, born in Switzerland

In the 1900 Ohio Soundex, Seneca, Tiffin, the following.
John W. Hollinger, born Sept. 1833, 66, born in Ohio
Ella R. Sept 1848, 51, born in Ohio
Edith M. born Sept 1879, 20, born in Ohio.
Thomas, born Feb. 1881, 19, born in Ohio.
Ella, born Dec. 1884, 15, born in Ohio.

I hope this gives you some clues.  Madge Little, Salt Lake City, Utah.
