Crigler, Anna married Hume, John on 05 Jan 1792 in Culpeper County, Virginia
They were married by the Rev. William Carpenter of the [Hebron] Lutheran Church located in Culpeper County, Virginia, later, in 1793, becoming Madison County, Virginia. The German Lutheran Church in the Robinson River Valley was not known as Hebron at the time of this marriage. The church eventually became known as Hebron Lutheran Church. No one seems to know when this name came into existence, but throughout the eighteenth century it was NOT Hebron. Some English people referred to it as the "Dutch" church.


Will of John Hume, 21 December 1825

St. Louis County State of Missouri December the 21st in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and twenty five
In the Name of God Amen.
I John Hume of the State and County afforesaid, being in good health and sound in mind and memmory [sic], do ordain this to be my last will and testment, in manner and form as follows (to wit) knowing that it is appointed for al men once to die and knowing the uncertainty of life, first it is my desire that my body be decently buryed [sic] in a christian like manner, and, I recommend my soul to God who gave it - second - it is my desire that all the property whether real or personal which God has blessed me with shall be and remain in the hands of, and be the property of my beloved wife Anna Hume during her natural life, nevertheless if she should deem it proper to dispose of any of the property let it be sold for the best price, and the money arising there from be equally divided amongst my children, and the remainder or whole of the estate (as the case may be) is to be sold and equally divided amongst my Children at the divease of my wife, &C -- And it is my wish that my sons George Hume, Lewis Hume, Stanton Hume and Charles Hume be Executors to this my last will and testament - In testamony of the above premises I do hereunto subscribe my name the year and Day above written

Codicil of John Hume, 31 August 1842

I John Hume of the County of Saint Louis and State of Missouri, do this thirty first day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and forty two, make and publish this codicil to my last will and testament, in manner and form following (that is to say) it is my will that after my decease that my old faithful negroe woman Clary aged about forty five years shall have the privelidge of choosing some one of my children to live with the balance of her life, and when such choice is made, it is my will that the said negroe woman Clary shall be valued by three disinterested House holders of the neighborhood or the appraisors of my estate, and when the value of said woman is acertained, The person who the said Clary makes choice of shall account to my estate for the value of said negroe woman Clary -- and lastly, it is my ........ and make a part of my last will and testament, to all intents and purposes. In writing whereof, I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written
