de Home, William (Sir ) 11
- Born: 1240
- Marriage (1): Ada
- Marriage (2): Maryota
- Died: 1300 at age 60
General Notes:
The Scottish Nation, by William Anderson on page 480. "in many authentic writings styled lord of Home, confirmed in 1268, a grant made by his mother, Ada, to the monastery of Kelso, prior to the year 1240."
Dominus de Hom. Iom in Celtic signifies a hill, of which Ihom is the genitive, in the pronunciation of which the I is mute. The addition of the final e is modern, for in the charter of 1159 the church is called Ecclesiam de Hom. [Drummond's Histories of Noble British Families, William Pickering, London, 1844, Part VI., Dunbar, Hume and Dundas Families, page 17]
William married Ada.
William next married Maryota.
