AGED CITY GARDNER DEAD
William R. Russell Cared for Park at Bissell's Point

William Robert Russell, who died Monday afternoon at his home, 4137 Penrose Street, aged 71 years, will be buried Thursday afternoon in Coldwater Cemetery, St. Ferdinand township. The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. from the residence. Death was caused by cancer.

Mr. Russell was born in St. Ferdinand township and had lived in St. Louis nearly all his life. He was for 20 years employed at the waterworks plant at Bissell's Point as gardener and yard man. He and his wife, Mrs. Mary J. Russell, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Oct. 18. Besides his wife he leaves four sons, George, Charles, Robert and Joseph.

William married Mary Jane James, daughter of William James and Eveline Blackburn, on 1 Apr 1858 in St. Louis County, Missouri. (Mary Jane James was born on 9 Aug 1840 in St. Louis County, Missouri, died on 16 Sep 1910 in St. Louis County, Missouri and was buried on 18 Sep 1910 in Florissant, St. Louis County, Missouri.)
