A tradition, stoutly asserted by some Carrico descendants, is that an earlier Peter Carrico, father of Peter and Abel, came to the Colonies under the auspices of the second Lord Baltimore.

Page 218. The names of Abel and Peter Carrico appear in MD records early in the seventeen-hundreds. The earliest date found as yet, 1707, when Peter Carrico, of Charles Co, executed a deed conveying some property to Walter Story, Perry Co, Hall of Records, Annapolis, MD. C-2 Folio 83. Page 218. Other spellings found have been: Carico, Caricoe, Carricoe, Carracho, Calico, Callico and Cerico.

Page 217. Although there has been no written record found, tradition has it that the two brothers had a sister, Jane, who married John Moore, a brother of the English poet Thomas Moore. From whence the Carricos emigrated to the Colonies is shrouded in the mists of the years. Every branch of the family has its tradition as to the original homeland of the family.
