FRIEDRICH IBACH
OF
PENNSYLVANIA
FORWARD
This history is what
is known about the ancestors and descendants of Johann Carl
(Charles) Friedrich Ibach (2 Aug 1760 ?) who, along
with his family and two of his brothers and their families, came
to America from the Remscheid, West Phaten (Herzogthum Berg) area
of Germany in 1795 and settled in the Birdsboro Pennsylvania
area.
There are several
spellings of the Ibach surname that have either originated in
Germany or have evolved since the Ibachs first came to America;
i.e., IBACH, EBACH, YBACH, EYBACH, EIBACH, UBACH, EBAUGH,
IBAUGH, and EBOCH. One family line of Johann Carl
Friedrich Ibach retained the spelling of "Ibaugh" which
is used in this history for that family line.
In addition, there are
several variations in the spelling of some German given names as
well as their English equivalents. The spellings used in
this family history are those that seemed to be in use at the
time the individuals lived or, in some cases, more than one
version is used parenthetically for clarity. The most
notable variations are:
Lutter
Lothar
Luther
Johann
Johannes John
Friedrich Fredrick
Frederick
Karl Charles
Carl
Wilhelm
William
Catharina
Catherina Catherine
Therisia
Theresa
Franziska Fransica
Friederica Fredrika
This history was
compiled by gathering existing written and verbal information
from living Ibach descendants, adding my own research, and
consolidating all information. Accordingly, acknowledgement
and gratitude are extended to the following individuals who
contributed significantly in making this family history possible:
Oren
Albert Angstadt
Robert
Bruce Ibach
Betty (Ibach) Reinhard
Charles Richard Ibach
Reverend and Mrs. Douglas Theodore Ibach Sr.
James Edward Ibaugh
In this history, all
Ibach/Ibaugh names are numbered successively according to their
dates of birth within their families. A name in blue
is listed on the page where the individual first appears in the
history, and indicates that the individual is a male Ibach/Ibaugh
who had at least one child who continues the Ibach/Ibaugh name
into the next generation. The name in blue is
repeated on a succeeding page in the next generation, where his
children are listed and additional information on the individual
is provided. A name in black identifies a wife of an
Ibach/Ibaugh, a male or female Ibach/Ibaugh who had no known
children, or a female Ibach/Ibaugh who married and her
descendents carried the name of her husband. In the latter
case, the husband and descendents with surnames other than
Ibach/Ibaugh are also listed in black. In addition,
for purposes of individual privacy, all individuals who are known
to still be living are listed as "(Living)" with
no additional information provided about them (whether or not
they have descendants).
In addition to the
information contained in this family history, where appropriate,
I have available, upon request, the following information:
(1) History for the living descendants of
Johann Carl Friedrich Ibach that are shown in this family
history, as well as for an additional generation of living
descendants not shown in this history.
(2) A pedigree of the Johann Carl Friedrich
Ibach family as well as several family lines of the two brothers
of Johann Carl Friedrich who came to America with him; i.e., Friedrich
Wilhelm Ibach (4 Nov 1746 - 10 Oct 1814) and Johann Ibach
(19 Feb 1753 - ?). A family line with the surname (Eboch)
is contained in this pedigree.
Requests for
information will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Requests
should indicate any known or suspected relationship to the
Remsheid Ibachs and the purpose for which the information is
requested. I will be pleased to assist anyone in
determining whether they are connected to any of the
Ibach/Ibaugh/Eboch family lines based on the information I have
available to me. Requests can be sent to me at the email
address shown below.
Errors and omissions
in a work of this size are inevitable. Additions and
changes to this family history are welcomed and can be provided
to me by email.
