When a man finally
recognizes his own mortality, it is then that he can fully appreciate the sacrifices and
hardships experienced by his forbearers that allowed him to walk his few years upon
the earth. Perhaps it is the study of one's ancestors that brings forth that
recognition. It is the chicken and the egg. But in knowing the times, the
lives, and the activities of our ancestors, the daily trials and tribulations that we face
today shrink into obscurity. They are replaced by the strong desire to leave
the world a better place than when we came into it, as they did.
There are no kings nor presidents herein,
no sports nor media stars, just simple folk who were heroes and heroines in their
own right. They crossed the seas, fought the wars, plowed the land, and built the
machines to give us the life that we have today. They laughed and
cried. They won and lost. They loved and hated just as we do. They were
real, living people rather than faceless names on a computer link. We cannot
forget them. We must not forget them.
It is hoped that the information made
available here will help both the serious researcher and the casual visitor achieve
a clearer understanding of his or her own heritage. No doubt there are errors that
we would be glad to know about. We hope you have an enjoyable visit.
