HOLLINGSWORTHS OF NEWTON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, U.S.A.
|
| |
Mrs. Camilla Posey of Longview, Texas, wants information regarding ISAAC HOLLINGSWORTH, gunsmith, who emigrated from North Carolina to what is now Decatur, Newton Co., Mississippi; with sons Addison, who went out to Texas and had 11 children; Samuel, Robin or Robert, James and Isham. The family arrived in Mississippi about 1820, or perhaps earlier, having first stopped in Louisiana. Who were Isaac's parents, brothers! In what county of North Carolina did he originate? |

MATTHEW HOLLINGSWORTH, TOBACCONIST, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
|
| |
Mr. Samuel W. Hollingsworth of Philadelphia, Matthew's grandson, (see the article on page 3) is interested in Matthew Hollingsworth's parentage and exact nativity in Ireland. His wife and oldest child John Alexander, arrived in 1839 from Ireland, their nativity being the Emerald Isle. Matthew's name hasn't been found on the ship list. Apparently, Matthew had brothers, John and James, both of whom came to Philadelphia in the period 1840-1860. They are believed to have come from the area around Rathfryland, Co. Down, (now) Northern Ireland. |

|
| |
Henry A. Hollingsworth would like correspondence and data regarding Daniel, Samuel, & Thomas Hollingsworth, believed to be brothers, who came from Ireland to Brockville, Ontario about 1835. Samuel died at Traverse City, Michigan, U.S.A. in 1865. He had a large family by two marriages, many of whom lived in upper Michigan and in Chicago and upstate New York, U.S.A., as well as Canada. Help appreciated. |

AUSTRALIAN PIONEERS.
|
| |
We all want to learn about the first Hollingsworths who went to the "Downunder Continent." Mail charges are high to this part of the world (25¢ a half-ounce? airmail) and weeks are consumed in transit. Do you know anything about the history of the family in Australia? |

WILLIAM HOLLINGSWORTH OF BELOIT, WISCONSIN, STAGE-COACH DRIVER.
|
| |
This man drove stage out of Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin in the year 1850, (perhaps earlier and later) according to the U.S. Census. He was not located there in 1860. He was born about 1817 in Canada. Are you one of his "lost descendants?"
