DEED, RANDOLPH COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA

Book 5 (1785-1794) page 23. Indenture dated Oct. 9, 1788, between
JACOB HOLLINGSWORTH & MARY his wife, and ROBERT HODGEN, all of Rand-
olph County, State of North Carolina. Consideration: £120. Parcel
of land, 100 acres in said county on east side of Deep River beginning
at the mouth of Broad Mouth Creek, then up the Creek etc.... being
part of a tract granted to PETTER YOUNGBLOOD by deed from the Earl
Granville, 26 Oct., 1759, and from said YOUNGBLOOD to WILLIAM COX May
8, 1761; and by deed from said COX to JOHN PECKRELL (PICKRELL) 16
July, 1771, and by deed of conveyance from said JOHN PICKRELL to this
JACOB HOLLINGSWORTH the 9th May, 1772. Signed JACOB HOLLINGSWORTH,
MARY HOLLINGSWORTH, their seals, witnesses being LAWRANCE RAINS and
DANELL BRACON (BROWN?). (NOTE, Page 24 is further conveyance from
this Robert Hodgin and wife Zelpha to Laurance Rains, same property.)

The editor made a cursory search of all deed books, 1 through 6,
(1779-1796) for Randolph County, and the General Indexes to Deeds,
Grantor-Grantee, for a much larger period. The same was done with
respect to Guilford County deeds. The above were the only two noted.

The above Jacob Hollingsworth, wife Mary, are believed to be the
same who later settled (about 1796) in Franklin County, Georgia, go-
ing there from Buncombe County, North Carolina. (See page 15, Deed 2.)
