The interest in the Henderson family relates to my great great grandmother, Nancy Henderson, who married David Beck and moved to Johnson County, Iowa around 1860. When Nancy's brother died in 1856, he left a land warrant for 160 acres to his brother-in-law, David Beck. No evidence of any land owned in Augusta County, Virginia, but David Beck moved to Iowa after David Henderson's death and it is believed he redeemed the land warrant in Iowa although we have not found that warrant yet.
George Henderson, was born in Scotland, date and place unknown. He paid taxes on land in Augusta County in 1845, but no record is found of him after that date. Possible areas where he may have been at the time of his death are in the R.V. Jackson Index to the 1850 census at the end of this manuscript. His wife Nancy (Reed) Henderson was still living in 1860. Her death date and place are also unknown but they, too, may have moved westward. The only son of George and Nancy Henderson, died unmarried and without issue so there are no descendants named "Henderson". No other Henderson information is known by the author than that posted below.
