APPETIZERS AND SNACKERS

Caramel Corn

2 C. brown sugar
2 sticks oleo
1/2 c. white Karo syrup
1 tsp. salt

Bring to boil.  Boil 5 min.  Remove from stove.  Add 1 tsp burnt sugar flavoring, 1 tsp. butter flavoring.  Stir in 1/2 tsp soda.  Beat.  Pour over 8 cups of popped corn.  Put in 250o oven for one hour.  Stir every 15 minutes.  Change racks.

Snackers

6 c Oyster crackers or 1 13 oz. Pkg.
1/3 cu. butter or oleo
1 cup dry roasted peanuts
3 Tbsp. light corn syrup
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp. soda

Combine crackers/peanuts in 4 quart microwave safe bowl.  Combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup in 1 quart bowl.  Mix
 
 

BEVERAGES
 
 

Banana Shake

1/2 Medium ripe banana, cut up
1/3 cup water
3 Tbsp. nonfat dry milk powder
2  ice cubes
1/4 tsp. orange peel

Mix in blender or stir well.
 
 

 Hawaiian Chi-Chi
 (Uncle Gerald and Aunt Judi brought back from Hawaii)

2 jiggers vodka
2 jiggers pineapple juice
2 jiggers sour mix (Mai Tai best)
1 jigger coconut syrup

 Eggnog

1 egg yolk, beaten well
1 egg white beaten almost stiff
2 tsp. sugar
1 cup cold milk
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
few grains nutmeg
few grains salt

Mix all together and drink.

Iced Tea, Home Brewed 

6 Heaping tsp. black tea
1 pint water

Bring water to boiling.  Drop in tea and boil for six minutes.  Strain and pour tea into a two quart container. While hot, add 1 cup sugar.  Then shake or stir contents until sugar is well dissolved.  Fill container with cold water.  DO NOT ALLOW TO COOL BEFORE ADDING COLD WATER.  We prefer to omit the sugar
 


Brandy Fruit Drink

6 oz. frozen orange juice
6 oz. frozen lemonade
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup brandy
1 cup sugar
 

Boil 1 cup water with sugar.  Add remaining ingredients and freeze to slush.

Mix 2/3 cup 7 up to 1/3 cup of slush.

Bourbon Slush:  Same as above, only use bourbon instead of brandy. (Nancy Brown)
