My name is Maria Johns Brown. I am an artist and a
musician and definitely a "Georgia Girl" from
day one (thats why my typing looks as though it has
a slight Southern accent!). I live in Coastal Georgia,
love the beach and love to ride the waves on my boogie
board.
I like to collect ancestors. All my Johns relatives
were from Georgia. Other ancestors were from Georgia,
South and North Carolinas, Virginia and Massachusetts.

My name is Henry LeRoy Johns III and go by "Hank".
I was born, reared and educated in Northern Louisiana, in
the town of Monroe. I graduated from Neville High School,
and entered college in that same year. Shortly thereafter,
I enlisted in the US Naval Reserve, and was assigned to
the Commander Amphibious Forces, US 7th Fleet. After an
18 month tour of Viet Nam, I returned to Monroe, LA, and
to college at Northeast Louisiana University. I graduated
from college, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in
Building Construction.
Shortly before my tour of duty in Viet Nam, I married
Sandra L. Templeton. We have 2 children, Margaret and
Clayton, who make their homes in Arkansas. Our daughter
Margaret is married, and our son Clayton is a student at
the University of Louisiana, in Monroe, LA, enrolled in
the Aviation program with the expectation of becoming an
Airline Pilot.
After my graduation from college, my wife Sandy and I
relocated to North Little Rock, AR, where I joined the
firm of Baldwin and Shell Construction Company. I have
moved within the ranks of the company through the years
and am a partner in this widely known construction firm.
I am the Vice President of Estimating at Baldwin and
Shell. To date, this companys largest construction
project was in October of 1999 -- the completion for a
new state of the art medical facility for the City of
North Little Rock, replacing an older and obsolete
hospital. This $100 million dollar project is the largest
building construction proposal to have taken place within
the State of Arkansas for the years 1998 and 1999,
combined.
I enjoy fishing, duck hunting and, of course, Johns
family genealogy ~ "The hunt for the top of the tree
takes a lifetime."

My name is Robert Roy Johns and go by "Rob".
Im a veteran of WW II, having served as a Sergeant
in the 26th Infantry Div. 101 Field Artillery, enlisted
to General George Pattons 3rd Army. My service
yielded a Bronze Star for Valor and Battle Stars,
including the Battle of the Ardennes, known as the "Bulge".
When I returned from service, I attended Cornell
University in New York. I graduated from college, holding
a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
My father and mother were both Texans. My great
grandfather, Newton, moved to Alvarado, Texas after his
service in the 3rd Alabama Cavalry during the Civil War.
My grandfather, Robert, was the last of a long line of
Johns farmers. My father, Roy, joined the Freeport Sulfur
Co. in the early 1900's and through a series of promotions became
Vice President and Sales Manager, relocating to New York.
That company is now known as Freeport McMoran, an
international mining company. I have 2 sons, Robert and
Richard, and a daughter, Sandra. I have 2 grandsons,
Robert and Daniel.
We live in California and relocated here from a
business assignment in Colombia, South America. I was
Manager of Armco Steel Corporations operation in
Southern Colombia. I was Western States Regional Manager
of Olin Corporations Metals Division in California
then, General Manager of the Reliance Steel and Aluminum
Company prior to starting my own electronics technical
sales business. I managed this business and retired in
the early 1990's. I am a member of the Holy Trinity
Episcopal Church and was Senior Warden of the Church. I
enjoy playing golf, and my sons and grandsons frequently
join me. My wife always joined in the family recreational
activities. Along with our daughter, we owned and trained
show horses. We were long time members of the Los Angeles
Yacht Club, and owned and raced a 40 foot sloop in
several local area races and 3 international races to
Ensenada, Mexico. Weve sailed a 33 foot sloop to
the Catalina and Santa Barbara Channel Islands for
enjoyment.

My name is Evelyn Sue Johns Terhune, but I go by
"Sue". I live in Marine City, Michigan, a
beautiful little community which is located on the banks
of the St. Clair River which flows between Lake St. Clair
and Lake Huron.
I have been researching my family history since 1987,
first by snail mail and, a year ago, by computer. I am a
graduate of the University of Michigan, holding a
Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and Art
Education. My husband Ed owns a Buick, Pontiac and GMC
Truck Dealership, and he was born and raised in Michigan.
We have 3 children, Michael, Mark and Jennifer, and 4
grandchildren, Ryan, Jeffrey, Cassidy and Abby.
I am now semi-retired after many years as a High
School Substitute Teacher and am still working on 3 to 4
interior design projects a year. My interests are
genealogy, reading, quilting, painting, horseback riding
and gardening. I am also researching the surnames
Willhite, Lay, Stark, Craddock, Skiles, Hobson; from the
Johns line.

My name is Thomas C Johns and go by "Tom",
and I now reside in Bowie, Maryland. I have been
researching my portion of the Johns family for some time.
My Johns family are all rooted in Pennsylvania. We are
connected to the infamous Brenneman family from the
Revolutionary War and the Dice/Gramm families of Franklin
County, Pennsylvania and of the Gramm Valley in Southern
Ohio, respectively. The Gramm Valley carries our namesake.
My father used to say that "...we are Scotch
Irish". The more I research, the more connections I
find to Johns descendants of German ancestry in
Pennsylvania. Before my mother married, her maiden name
was Bechtold and her mother's, Honaman. The Dice family
surname is German as is the Brenneman family surname.
John Johns of Lancaster County, PA is my great, great
grandfather and the key to my search for the top of my
family's tree. He married Mary Gramm, also of Lancaster
County, PA, Christmas Eve, December 24, 1850.
I work full time for the Department of Maryland,
Disabled American Veterans branch. As a disabled Viet Nam
War Veteran and an active member of the DAV, I am
consciously involved in the daily campaign for Veterans
rights and benefits.

My name is Rodney Earl Willis and go by "Rod".
I was born in Santa Rosa County, Florida. While attending
Milton High School, I played varsity football, basketball
and baseball. Two days after my graduation from MHS, I
enlisted with the US Marine Corps. I served 3 years with
the USMC, then enrolled into and graduated from Florida
State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree
in Business Administration. I organized and lead my own
rock 'n roll band while in the service and continued this
interest through college. Even cut a record in Nashville,
Tennessee, under the Chic record label. I toured the
countryside promoting its distinction and made enough
money to break even. The June 1957 issue of Billboard
Magazine had a double page advertisement for this record,
"Somebody's Been Rocking My Baby". In due time,
I decided that the music business was not for me.
I returned to the sweetheart I met during freshmen
talent night at FSU. Rodney E. Willis and Carolyn J.
Elvidge were married in Daytona Beach, FL. After
graduation I made my career in the Florida state
government, mostly as an Education Policy Coordinator in
the Governor's Budget Office. My wife had a parallel
career in the Florida state legislature serving as
Committee Secretary for the Senate Appropriations
Committee. We are both retired after many years of
service and have moved to the "back forty"
which we bought in December, 1964. We have 5 children and
12 grandchildren and have parceled off some 80 acres to
our offspring. Three children, their spouses and 7
grandchildren are now living along the "back forty",
too.
