STATE OF Indiana,
County of Morgan } ss:
On this 4th day of August, A. D. one thousand eight hundred and sixty three, personally appeared before me Johnathan J. Wright Clerk of the Circuit Court within and for the County and State aforesaid, Elisabeth A. Bowlin, a resident of Martinsville, in the County of Morgan and State of Indiana, aged 35 years, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth, on her oath, make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress, approved July 14, 1862:
That she is the widow of Cristopher Bowlin who enlisted in the service of the United States at Elliottsville Monro[e] Co. Ind. on the 14th day of August 1862 as a Private in Company B, commanded by Capt. Samuel Denney in the 67 Regiment of Indiana Volunteers in the war of 1861, who died at Jefferson Barracks in the State Missouri on the 25th day of June A D 1862 of Chronic Ds.
She further declares that she was married to the said Cristopher Bowlin on the 7th day of May in the year 1846 [insert] at said County[end insert]; that her husband, the aforesaid Christopher Bowlin died on the day above mentioned, and that she has remained a widow ever since that period, as will more fully appear by reference to the proof hereto annexed; that the names and ages of her children under sixteen years of age, at her husband's decease, and ["the place of their residence" lined out] they resident here is as follows:
Lucinda Bowlin born 6th day of July 1847,
Louisa Bowlin born September the 17th 1849,
Nancy E. Bowlin born August the 6th 1851,
Mary Bowlin born January the 25th 1854,
Emanuel E. Bowlin born May 7th 1856,
Cynthiane Bowlin born October 17th 1858.
That she is not in receipt of a pension for said Issues
She also declares that she has not in any manner been engaged in or aided or abetted the rebellion in the United States. She hereby appoints Francis P. A. Phelps of Martinsville, County of Morgan, State of Indiana, her true and lawful Attorney, with full power of substitution to prosecute this claim for pension, and to receive the certificate to be issued therefor.

Also personally appeared John Glessner and Samuel Guy residents of Morgan County State of Indiana whom I can certify to be respectable and entitled to credit, and who, being by me first duly sworn, say they were present and saw Elisabeth A Bowlin sign her name & make her mark to the foregoing declaration and Power of Attorney; and they further swear, that they have every reason to believe, from the appearance of the applicant, and their acquaintance with her, that she is the identical person she represents herself to be, and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.
