I Catherine Heppener being duly sworn say that I am the identical person named in the within certificate of the Clerk of the County of Jefferson as the widow of John Heppener a Revolutionary soldier of the United States deceased.

Know all men by these presents, That I Catherine Heppener of Henderson in the County of Jefferson and State of New York & widow of John Heppener a Revolutionary soldier of the United States deceased do hereby constitute and appoint John L. Crew of the City of Albany my true and lawful Attorney for me and in my name to receive from the Agent [carated: of the United States] for paying pensions in the City of Albany State of New York, the balance of the pension of the aforesaid John Heppener from the fourth day of September 1839 to the ninth day of February 1840 that being the day of his death

Witness my hand and seal this 26th day of May 1840. The worsds "of the United States" being first intentioned

BE IT KNOWN, That on the 15th day of June 1840, before the subscriber, a commissioner of deeds in and for said county, personally appeared J L Crew the attorney named in the foregoing power of attorney, and made oath that the same was not given him by reason of any sale, transfer, or mortgage of the pension, or arrears of pension therein authorised to be received by him.

I Paleg Burchard Clerk of the Court of Common Please of Jefferson County & Clerk of the said County, do hereby certify that at a Court holden this day at Watertown in a for said County, satisfactory evidence has been exhibited to said Court that John Heppener was a pensioner of the United States, at the rate of Eight Dollars per month; was a resident of the town of Hederson in said County in the State of New York and died in the town of Pamela in the County of Jefferson & State of New Yrk in the year One Thousand Eight hundred and forty on the 9th day of February; that he left a widow who now resides in the town of Henderson & whose name is Catherine Heppener.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal of office at Watertown this 26th day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & forty
