JAMES M. HEPNER
James (Jim) Matthews Hepner, 73, died March 20, 1995, at AMI-Brownsville Medical Center.
A native of Indianapolis, Hepner attended Harlingen public schools and graduated in 1939. He worked until 1960 as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with Stotler-Burdette Funeral Home, which became Kreidler-Ashcraft Funeral Directors. He became manager at Hinkley Mortuary and director at Trevino Funeral Home before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Optimist International Clubs, Harlingen Jaycees, Harlingen Elks Lodge 1889, and Brownsville Elks Lodge 1032. He was an organizer of the Valley Boys' Ranch and was on its' Board of Governors.
Survivors include one son, John C. Hepner of Denton, Texas; two daughters, Penny Hemphill of Houston, and Rebecca Whittenberg of Divide, Colo.; a former wife, Marjorie K. Hepner of Port Isabel; and six grandchildren.
Visitation services will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Chapel.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Buena Vista Memorial Park.
