[NI0311] "J.D. (Dave) Harrison grew up at Post Oak, working on farms and through thrift and good management he accumulated several tracks [sic] of land. He became self-educated and supported all the community activities of the day. He was a lifetime leader at the Post Oak Baptist Church. He was also a member of Woodman of the World.
In 1900, Miss Annie Laura Oaks (b 1-11-1881) cam to the Post Oak Community to teach school. She was the daughter of Permelia Boyd (1856) whose family is recorded to George Boyd (b 1691) and Adolphus Radford Oaks (b 1854) Adolphus was the youngest of four brothers from North Carolina, founders of the Oaks Settlement of Fair Oaks Village, in Freestone County, Texas.
ON January 12, 1902, J.D. Harrison and Annie Laura Oaks were married in Fairfield, Texas by Justice of Peace J.E. Lindsay. Wtnesses were J.R.B. Cain and W.L. Glazener. Annie Laura Harrison was a member of the Baptist Church and her life exemplifeed [sic] true Christian Character. She was of the home loving, homebuilding type of womanhood.
Annie Laura Oaks Harrison (b 1881 -d 2-12-1921) She was forty years old. she left six children and husband Dave Harrison. . .
