Here is an excerpt from the Cushing & Sheppard biographical article on "George Fox and Samuel M. Fox (page 656):

"Frederick Fox, the great grandfather of Samuel M. emigrated from Germany and settled in Salem County. He served during the war of the Revolution, when he was a corporal, and on his return to civil life settled in Deerfield township, Cumberland Co. Among his children was a son, Frederick, born in Salem County, March 15,1768, who married Anna Mary B. Meglin, only daughter of George and Barbara Meglin, who emigrated from Wurtemberg, Germany. The children of Mr.. and Mrs.. Fox were Mary (Mrs. Abram Stull), Elizabeth (Mrs. Jacob Hopner), John, Margaret (Mrs. J.B. Mounts), Catherine (Mrs. Lewis Woodruff), Frederick, George, Ann (Mrs. James Golder), Lydia (Mrs. William Keene), Susan (Mrs. William Keen), and Phebe, of whom three survive. Mr. Fox died July 12, 1839, in his seventy-second year, and his wife in July, 1860."

"Mrs. Anna Bolin, 88, Dies Today"

Mrs. Anna Bolin, age 88, known in the Paragon community as Aunt Ann, died at her home there this morning at 8 o'clock.
A native of Morgan County, Mrs. Bolin was born in 1863, the daughter of Anderson and Elizabeth McDaniel Bastin. She was married June 20, 1878, to Victor Bolin, who preceded her in death in 1922.
Survivors include two daughter, Mrs. Pearl Scott of Sandusky, O., and Miss Edith Bolin, a former teacher at Paragon High School, and a grandson Dwight Stiles of St. Louis, Mo. Another son James Bolin died in 1918 and a daughter Lena Alice died in infancy.
The Rev. Paul Kitley, Pastor of the Paragon Christian Church, will conduct funeral services Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Begeman Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 o'clock Tuesday evening.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery,"

Another BASTIN Family mystery!...

A daughter of Jonathan Harvey Bastin (b. abt. 1841, d. 12 May 1911) and
Minerva Jane Williams (b. abt. 1847 IL, d. 1911) named Cynthia Ann Bastin
was born 14 Feb 1875, probably in Monroe Co, IN and died in Feb 1935.

A marriage is listed between William F. McDaniel and a Cynthia Bastin in
Morgan Co, IN records for 16 Aug 1894 (Morgan Co, IN Marriage Book 8, p.
517). Their sons included Forest, Herschel, and Noble McDaniel. Can anyone
confirm when these sons were born? Is this the same Cynthia Ann Bastin who
was a daughter of Jonathan Harvey Bastin and Minerva Jane Williams Bastin?
Can anyone confirm this? (Please copy Dixie McDaniel Payne at
dpayne1641@aol.com as well as our BASTIN-L List if you can confirm thiss
identity!)

(To confuse the issue, there is also another Cynthia Ann Bastin who was a
daughter of John Emery Bastin and Mary Jane Holsapple. However, this
Cynthia Ann Bastin was born in 1871 and died in 1941. She married John W.
Cirgin on 4 May 1890 in Monroe Co, IN. Did she subsequently re-marry?
There is also another Cynthia Bastin who was born in about 1849, a daughter
of Hiram H. Bastin and Mary Ann Loveall of Monroe Co, IN, and it is not
known if she grew to adulthood, married, and had children. I don't think
either one of these is the Cynthia Bastin who married William F. McDaniel in
Morgan Co, IN, but cannot confirm or disprove this hunch.)

I have been going through the Morgan Co, Owen Co, and Monroe Co, IN birth
and marriage records over the last few days, and have pieced together the
following family members from the public record information I have found.
However, I cannot identify who Harvey Emory Bastin's parents were. Does
anyone know?

(Note: superscripts, which unfortunately don't appear as superscripts in
pure ASCII such as this post, that appear after dates, names, and the like,
refer to end notes at the end of the genealogy report. As for Harvey's first
wife, Gertrude Holler, I _do_ have her maternal ancestry through Matilda
Bastin traced, however.)
