George McGowan (1877-1946)

George McGowan was born in 1877 in Boone Co., Arkansas. He was married twice by the 1910 Cherokee Co., Oklahoma census records. At that time he was living in Township #4 and was a farmer. The name of his first wife is unknown. His second marriage occurred about 1903 to Ida Powers. She was born about 1886 in Kentucky, the daughter of Quincy Powers. George died in 1946 in Tahlequah, Cherokee Co., Oklahoma. Ida died there in 1973 and they are buried in the Miller Cemetery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.


Dock Marion Lieuallen was the husband of George's sister, Elsie Calvin McGowan. She was born in June, 1887 in Boone Co., Arkansas. He was born ca. 1882 in Missouri, son of John & Martha (Bilyeau) Lieuallen. They were married on Sept. 9, 1907 in Taney Co., Missouri. In the 1910 Census, Dock & Elsie were living in Township #4 of Cherokee Co., Oklahoma, next door to her brother George McGowan. Elsie was ninety years old when she died and is buried back at Gobbler's Knob Cemetery in Taney Co., Missouri.
