Joseph T. McGowen was born in Sept., 1847 in White Co., TN. He was still with his parents in 1870 in Caldwell Co., KY. On Nov. 28, 1871, he married Florence Edora Owen. Florence was born in Caldwell Co. about 1848, the daughter of Evan & Rutha Hale (Greer) Owen. In the 1880s, Joseph and Florence moved their family to Rutherford Co., TN. They were the parents of seven children. Florence died in Rutherford Co., TN about 1891. About a year later, on Sept. 4, 1891, Joseph remarried to a widow, Mrs. Lee G. (Jenny) CLARK. Joseph and Jenny had one child. Joseph died after 1915 in Rutherford Co., TN. The children of Joseph and Florence were: Amber "Amby", Frances Elizabeth "Fanny", Homer, Annie, Florence and Elsie McGowen.
