Tully Williamson Home

The Williamson home was probably built by Tully Williamson (1821-1869), who was a carpenter and built the Soule Methodist Church, or possibly his son George Washington Williamson (1860-1936). The house is located in the Juniper Bay area beside the Juniper Bay Canal, which led from Mattamuskeet Lake to Juniper Bay.

You will notice the "Widow's Walk" at the pinnacle of the roof. From there womenfolk could look out over the Juniper Bay to see their men returning from a day's fishing or a trip to Little Washington or New Bern. This is the birthplace of your host, John B. McGowan.
