[1] Richard Irwin Lynch was b. 1 June 1850 in S. Germans, Cornwall, England. Children of Harriett and Richard are; Edith K. Lynch b. abt. 1885, Cambridge, England; Richard I. Lynch b. abt. 1889, Cambridge, England; and Walter G. Lynch b. abt. 1890, Cambridge, England. Kew trained like his father, Lynch became the Curator at Cambridge University Botanic Gardens where his efforts raised the reputation of the Cambridge Gardens as second only to Kew. He was most well known for his work with the Gerbera Daisy. Published in 1904, his most important printed work was "The Book of the Iris." He was awarded the Victoria Medal of honor in 1906 and died 7 December 1924.

[2] Free BMD lists Richard Pomeroy as b. September 1862. He was likely named for his father's brother who died in the same year. At age 34, working as a Photographer, son of James Pomeroy (deceased), Iron Monger, Richard Pomeroy and Mabel Dewhurst, age 21, Spinster, daughter of William James Dewhurst; both listed at 312 York Road, Islington, London, married at the London Registry Office. Richard's younger brother, J. Edgecombe Pomeroy and "E. Haw" [sic], perhaps James' wife to be, Emma (?) served as witnesses to the marriage. The 1901 census shows the couple living in Nelson, NE Lancashire where Mabel is listed as having been born in Hove, Sussex. A family story states that an aunt who dealt in "simples" lived in Hove, but her identity nor her relationshnip within the family has not been established.

[4] 1891 Census shows James E. and Emma Pomeroy living in Islington, London at 40 Fortnam Road with a 1 year old son named Richard E. Pomeroy. 1901 census shows the same couple living at 52 Farrant Avenue, Tottenham, Middlesex - a daughter, Lilian is 8 years old, placing her birth abt. 1893.
