Mrs. Eva (Blanchard) PADDOCK at Windward United Church of Christ (she was b. on same day and year as his first wife) -moved to Kailua -Eva died in 1968 in Kailua, buried in Manhattan, KS next to 1st husb. -Rev. Holmes lived his life as the antithesis of the Calvinist missionary so cruelly stereotyped by Michener. Rather, he preached and lived a gospel of joy, hope, and compassion. His liberal theology, to a great extent, was learned from his mother and father early in Lincoln, Maine. A Holmes' Memorial Fund is administered by the Windward Church of Christ, honoring both Reverend Holmes and his second wife Eva.
