till Death do you part."
Death parted them at
10:45pm, August 15th, 1998.
He kept his vow to her,
never leaving even after
the MS claimed her ability
to walk, bathe, or use
the bathroom by herself.
He took measures to provide
for her in the unlikely event
that he died before her. Neither
of them expected him to
die first; he was supposedly
healthier, and had no
debilitating disease with which
to contend.
But his heart had problems,
and the lungs too, and
in the end, it was too much
for his body.
So after forty three years their
marriage came to an end.
She wears his ring though, and
I know that in her heart and mind
She still feels married to him.
Of course, it's only been ten days;
ten days since forty three years
of living and loving together
stopped.
Ten days since the vows were fulfilled.
