He never owned his own home. He rented for $5.00 per month various homes in Servia, therefore, the family moved frequenty, sometimes in less than one year. Grandpa (Roy) told me which houses he remembers living in. (See Map)
He spent his life working as a day loborer, selling his time to the local farmers. He had a team of horses and a wagon with gravel bed and therfore, always had work.
Grandpa (Roy) has his father sledge hammer. George gave 40 cents for it in 1910+/-, Roy gave him 40 cents for 40 years later. It is in the garage.
