CIVIL WAR: Co. A 4th Arkansas Infantry Pvt-Corporal The Fourth Arkansas Infantry was mustered into service on 17 August 1861 in Miller's Springs, Lawrence County, Missouri. They participated in the battles of Wilson's Creek, MO, Pea Ridge, Ark., Richmond, KY, Murfreesborough, Tenn., Chickamauga, GA, Resecs, GA, Atlanta, GA, Franklin, Tenn., Nashville, Tenn., and varous other engagements. George and his family appear on 4 Shelby County, Texas census reports 1870-80, 1900-10. The 1870 shows G.W. as a farmer at the age of 28. Sarah is a housekeeper who is 29 yrs old. Two children also appear. John H. is 4 and Lovin is 6 months old. Both George and Sarah are from MS and the children are born in TX. The 1880 census reveals G.W. at 38, Sarah 37, L. 11, S.F. 9, L.J. 7, W.G. 5. Only initials were on report. George and Sarah are both 59 years old on the 1900 census. L.J. is 26 and J. Hanna a grandaughter is 6. The last census, 1910 only shows George and Sarah living together. They are both 68 years of age and have been married for 50 years. Two Census records of W.G.B are found in 1900 and 1910 Shelby County, TX census reports. The 1900 census shows W.G at 23, his wife Sarah at 20, and one child Addie at 10months old. The 1910 record reports W.G. as a farm labor at the age of 35, Sarah at 29, Addie was not on this record, but perhaps her name is also Evelena who is now 9 yrs old, Levi is 7, Bonnie 3, and Jane is only 1 year old.
