He died on 2 Jan 1912 in Union Co., Arkansas.⁴⁴ Walter probably died before January 1920, since there is a widowed Margaret D. Marcus living with a niece or nephew on the 1920 census. It's likely Mr. Cameron is her nephew, since Walter and his sister Annie were living with a Cameron in 1880. Walter probably died in Union Co., Arkansas, since every census with him is for Union Co.
It is likely he is the J. W. Marcus who is buried in Scotland Cemetary in Union Co., Arkansas.

J. Walter MARCUS and Margaret D. (Maggie) MCWHARTER were married about 1883.⁴⁵ There's is likely the marriage recorded as:

Margaret D. (Maggie) MCWHARTER was born on 19 Dec 1844 in Alabama.⁴² Her probable tombstone lists her birth date as 19 Dec 1844. The 1900 census gives her a birth year of 1857, while the 1880 census gave about 1848.
