Born near Bible Grove, Ill., April 10, 1847 - Buried in Family Plot in Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Died Sept.24, 1916, (age 69 years) near Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Rachel Ruth Hollowell and Michael William Stockwell were married August 27, 1865 in Bible Grove, Ill. where they resided until about 1875. The family moved to a farm one mile west and one - half mile north of Burden, Kansas (one - half section of leased land). The Stockwell family came to Oklahoma in covered wagons in 1889 to homestead the family farm located two miles east and one and one - half miles north of Stillwater, Oklahoma. When the family moved they used seven wagons to bring their furniture. food and implements. George Stockwell, 15 years old, made twenty trips to Kansas to finish moving the feed. etc. It took him two days to go and three or more days for the return trip. A typical Load was forty to fifty bushels of corn. Grandfather Stockwell hired someone to set out an orchard before they moved. Grandmother Stockwell went to Kansas every summer for three years to can fruit for the family. They had ten children. (This information was given to Vivian Sears Eowles by Lola Stockwell Bates on one of her visits.)

Seth Sams His mother died when he was two years old and he grew up with the Stockwell family. He was never legally adopted. He married Bell, lived near Cushing, Oklahoma and they raised 11 children.

Flossie Pheobia Stockwell married William Franklin Sears (July 5, 1884 - August 23, 1952) on Christmas Day (1906) In family farm home - she was a housewife/seamstress and he was a cook who owned 3 cafes in Stillwater, Oklahoma also traveled as a cook with the 101 Wild West Show.

1 A copy of the original typewritten document was scanned into the computer around 1997. This copy was obtained from George OHair who obtained it from Coeta Stockwell and it was scanned in by Kelly OHair. Some editing of the document had to be done to correct scanner problems in trying to convert the scanned image into a text document. It appears to have been typed in during the early 1980s.
