HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?

Our first request is a roll call of interested researchers. We do not expect an immediate commitment of time and materials, but need to compile list of researchers, which lines you are researching and identification of source documents you have already acquired and would be willing to submit for use in this project.

We have begun compiling a bibliography of available reference materials for use in this project. If you have materials, would you volunteer for lookups? Please let us know what you have and the form requests should take.

If you live or work near county seats, NARA facilities, FHCÕs or libraries with genealogy resources, would you be willing to procure documents or information for us?

We have compiled a listing of all CASHION, CASHON, CASHIN, CASHEN, CASON entries in the AIS census index. This list will be posted soon. It is very large! You will be amazed at the number of CASHION households represented. We plan to include images of these census entries in our publication. If you have already transcribed any census files, please consider submitting them to us as soon as possible. Do not forget to include allied families in this data if you can identify them as such. Although the actual census page is a valuable research tool, only the transcription can be searched by computer. If you have found incorrect entries in any census file, please let us know! We will note the inconsistency for other researchers.

If you have DAR or SAR documentation on any Cashion ancestor, please let us know.

If you have Bibles or diaries you would like to make part of this project, please scan them and submit files or photocopies to us. Digital images are best and we will be arranging the means for submittal of this material to us for inclusion as source documentation.

Photos are very important to this endeavor. We would prefer that you submit a scanned image, but will scan your photos and return them to you as quickly as possible. Any photo submitted must have explanatory material attached to it. Identify persons, places and dates. If possible, also provide some information about the event or family represented.

Please submit all e-mail addresses you feel should be included in our mailing list for queries and requests for information to be used in this project. Are there mailing lists you think we should post queries to?

Please forward this posting to anyone you feel might wish to participate. This project will be a wonderful opportunity to meet new cousins. We will be posting snail mail information as well as internet site locations.

Do you have microfilm of source documents you would be willing to share? We would like digital scans of these documents. (Copyright laws will be diligently observed.)

Do you have access to digital microfilm or microfiche scanners? Would you be willing to create digital files of documents? (Copyright laws will be diligently observed.)

All researcher comments and suggestions are welcome.

Have you done, or would you be willing to make, surveys of cemeteries where CASHION graves are located?

Would you be willing to transcribe and/or proofread material for us?

We welcome anecdotal material so long as it has cited sources and is germane to CASHION genealogy. This material can be in written or oral form. Remember, this is a purely volunteer effort. We welcome your participation on any level.
