- 1.3 MB. This letter contains the
names of Riggs Pennington's children, and some background about
Riggs' life and origins. However, I believe Mr. Pennington was
mistaken about the place of birth he gives for Riggs' father,
Timothy. It is possible that he was simply recounting family
tradition that the Penningtons came from England without
realizing that was several generations back (if indeed that was
the case.) There are no civil records available to prove where
Timothy was born, but we believe he was from eastern
Pennsylvania, and that his father, Ephraim, was from New
Jersey. My theory, which is shared by some other Pennington
researchers, is that Ephraim was one of the descendants of
Ephraim of Connecticut, who was a New Haven
Colonist.
