This genealogy is organized by male lines of descent. Related people with the
same last name are listed together under that name. Unrelated people with the
same surname (see Smith for example) are put into separate groups. Entries
that take more than one line to print have all but the first line indented.
For each person there is an entry for the person and one for each marriage.
Each spouse has an entry under his or her last name if it is known. Children
are listed in the section for their father under the marriage card for their
mother. The number of dots (asterisks, pluses, minuses, slashes) in front of
a name indicates the generation. Children are numbered to indicate the order
of their birth if it is known.

Ancestors of a selected person (usually Barbara Elena Purdom) are indicated
by an asterisk in front of their name. Spouses of relatives are indicated by
a plus, parents of spouses by a slash, and other non-relatives by a minus.

A question mark is used to indicate unknown information. This genealogy has
been put in a standardized form for computer processing. Therefore some
entries (such as born on 1790) will sound unnatural.
