DLLADD, DENISEDREW, Janet
.Janet> Misty seems to be off line still.
DENISEDREW> I was hoping to fill in my many blanks on the English
side
.Janet> I'm still working on the American side.
_** TANDY1 just joined "Ladd Genealogy" (4 members now) **
.Janet> Hi Tandy.
DLLADD> Hi Tandy
TANDY1> Oh. hello
TANDY1> The last time I was here was the last week in November.
DENISEDREW> well, how are you all doing on your research??
.Janet> So Tandy, did you get lots of research done since November?
.Janet> I have straightened out a couple of Arkansas lines.
DENISEDREW> Tandy, whom are you researching att he moment?
TANDY1> No. Picked up just a little here and there. I found out I got
ancestors called Shelton, Tilley, France.
DLLADD> I sent on the request from Misty from Nancy Fischer on the
LADD/SHATTUCK line to my friend in Cottage Grove OR and she sent me
results
DENISEDREW> Did any one go to Ancestry.com this month??
.Janet> Well, that's more than you had Tandy. I've been corresponding
with Ann Potts, the daughter of Victor Price and Amanda Ladd.
.Janet> I did Denise. But I haven't had time to get back there and I'm
running out of free time.
TANDY1> Not really anyone, Denise, right now. I've been mostly
studying and researching Abraham and all the fathers of us
.Janet> I found a lot of references to Joseph Ladd but wasn't sure
what to do with the list. My sister said to contact the submitter to
Ancestry.
DENISEDREW> do you have any information on a Thomas Pince, NH?
.Janet> Tandy, are you starting there and collecting all his
descendants!? :-)
.Janet> No Denise.
DLLADD> did he marry a LADD?
TANDY1> No. I'm just studying the Bible. Reading through it with
commentaries and such
DENISEDREW> don't know have a reference saying he had a daughter
Thankful Delano
.Janet> Tandy, good for you.
TANDY1> I found something unusual a couple of weeks ago. My 3rd great
grandmothers name is Elizabeth Maria (Shelton) Smith. They had a
daughter who was named Elizabeth Maria Smith, Jr.
.Janet> Really, did women do that?
TANDY1> I found another daughter named Sarah other than her. And I
knew of my grandmother all ready.
.Janet> Denise, none of those names are familiar to me.
TANDY1> I guess they do. My cuz has seen it about 5 or 6 times. This
is my first
.Janet> I've never run into a lady Jr.
DLLADD> most time the daughter was referred to by a nickname rather
than by Jr.
TANDY1> Like Betsy would have been a name for her.
DLLADD> but in records they may have used that term rather than ( I )
or ( II )
.Janet> Lots of nicknames for Elizabeth.
DLLADD> my Aunt Elizabeth used Betty most of her life
.Janet> Others are Bess, Bessie, Beth, Eliza, Libby, Lisa, Liza, Liz
_** SISTER2 just joined "Ladd Genealogy" (5 members now) **
.Janet> Hi Charles!
 TANDY1> Hello
 Charles> Hi all.
.Janet> Hey, how do you guys list those generations on the mailing
list? Do you just type it in?
DENISEDREW> we all have a txt file saved for just that purpose
DLLADD> Janet I usually type up stuff in WORD then when
satisfied...copy and paste into the E-mail then make additional
corrections so that it doesn't wrap on it self if can be helped
.Janet> I've got a lot of info in some family group sheets, I just
hate retyping it all.
.Charles> I do it like Don.
.Charles> Janet why would you have to retype all your family group
sheets.
DENISEDREW> Hello Charles, do you have anything to share on the
English side of the ocean??
DLLADD> it make it so much easier, doesn't it Charles? Then when done
can either file it or whatever...
.Charles> All I have on the English Ladds is what was in the Thomas
Miffin Ladd book.
.Janet> Charles, I have all my information in PAF. To get it into
Word, I think I have to retype it.
DENISEDREW> could you not just save as to txt??
.Janet> :-) I'll have to do a little more experimenting with PAF to
see if it will. If I want to export info, it just gives me gedcom
choices.
.Charles> Does you progam make reports Janet,.
DENISEDREW> thats true, but does it not give you an option to create
books, ancestor lists etc??
.Janet> Charles, that's an idea. I'll check that. I might even have to
read the manual!
_** BONES95 just joined "Ladd Genealogy" (6 members now) **

DENISEDREW> that does produce reports for you. Had that one but found
that FOWINS

.Bones> he sure is.. :-)
DLLADD> the underground artist?
.Bones> that's the one
DLLADD> now I see the connections to BONES LOL
.Bones> is a second cousin LOL
DLLADD> I enjoy his work been awhile though
.Bones> I know.. had a real collection of his work myself..long before
I knew we were related
.Janet> Well, my artistic ignorance is going to show. Is he in the
encyclopedia?
DLLADD> I rather doubt that LOL
.Bones> I don't know.. are you familiar with the "Keep On Trucking"
guy from the 60's?
DLLADD> but depends on the enclylopedia
.Janet> OH Yes! OK.
.Bones> that is his stuff

my great grandfather, Josiah Warren Ladd
.Bones> to me that is close.
.Bones> Turns out I had several pictures of his family in my

DLLADD> Jackal2 welcome back
.Janet> Hi Jackal
DLLADD> what line are you interested in?
.Bones> I saw in the Digest where there was an inquiry about a Charles
K. Ladd in Henry County, have two very interesting news articles on
him from the Kewanee, IL newspaper
JACKAL2> Howdy, I am researching the Kinsey line and believe I have
some Lladd's
.Janet> Charles, BRB=Be Right Back; ROTFL=rolling on the floor
laughing; <g> is another way to grin; B4N=Bye for Now.
DLLADD> does the Digest carry things that the mail list does not?
.Charles> It is easier for me to just type them.
TANDY1> - signed off -
.Bones> I don't think so.. but am trying to locate the digest that
referenced this Charles Ladd, would like to respond
.Charles> Tell me more about Charles K. Ladd in Henry co.
.Bones> he was a very prominent attorney in the Illinois area..was a
very close friend to William Jennings Bryan..was his speech writer
during the time he ran for presidency
.Bones> Bryan also asked him to be his running mate..but Charles
turned him down. I believe he was also the Cook County Attorney
.Bones> lived in Kewanee.. was a cousin of my great grandfather's.
.Charles> Was Chas. a VA Ladd?
.Bones> His father was John T. Ladd.. mother was Lydia Ann Pervier
.Charles> Sounds like a New England Ladd. Was that Henry county KY?

Part 2 of 3

.Bones> no.. Henry County, Illinois
.Charles> O.K.
.Charles> Don you see that O.K.
.Bones> my great grandfather Josiah was a brother to Charles father
John
.Charles> I am catching on.
.Bones> excuse me.. I meant to say my great great grandfather Josiah
W. Ladd and John T. Ladd were brothers
.Janet> Way to go Charles!
.Bones> really... huzzah!
.Bones> Denise was kind enough to include pictures of my great
grandparents and my gg grandparents as a part of her web site for the
Ladd's..
.Bones> she did a beautiful job putting the page together.. really
makes me proud.
.Janet> I need to check it again...she works a lot on it doesn't she.
.Charles> How do you get to Denise's page.,
.Janet> Bonnie do you have her web site address for Charles?
.Bones> http://www.geocities.com/heartland/prairie/4103/index.htm
.Charles> Thanks
.Bones> you are very welcome!
DLLADD> copy and paste that Charles or wait till you get the log then
do it
.Bones> she has a very good site.
DLLADD> My friend in Cottage Grove Oregon mailed me some copies of the
Ruth Kline-Ladd book
DLLADD> not he whole book just some of the pages
.Janet> Charles, I sent you info on John A. Ladd. I think he was the
son of Milton Ladd.
.Charles> I need to go back and study the Ruth Ladd book. Somewhere I
got the idea that she messed up and got on the wrong line.
.Charles> That is good I don't think that I have anything on Him.
.Janet> I think you have him as a son of John, the son of Miles Ladd,
but that John died in 1899 along with a lot of other Ladds. I think
there was a typhoid fever epidemic.
.Bones> Janet..which line is this John & Miles Ladd from? Are they of
the Virginia line?
.Janet> They are of the Joseph Ladd line. He was supposed to be born
in Virginia.
.Bones> k..thanks. Don't know alot about that line.
.Janet> I think it's just me and Charles! Arkansas Ladds!
.Charles> Miles Ladd on the 1880 census said that his father was b. in
VA.
.Janet> And so did my Constantine.
.Markmaples> - signed off -
.Charles> I wonder if they were right because it don't work the way
that I look at it. I figure that he was b. in NC.
.Janet> I answered a query on the Yell County, Arkansas site and got a
lot of information from an Ann Potts. North Carolina and Virginia
looks like such a mess early on. I
.Janet> don't think they knew where they were some of the time.
.Janet> Or they were in Virginia when it was Virginia and then it
ended up being North CArolina later, or visa versa.
DLLADD> Charles, didnt' the early costal states extend west into
present states like Arkansas ?
.Janet> Did you see that I got an answer to the land graduation
question from the GLO? They were fast--next day service! Sure beats
the snail mail.
.Bones> has a connection ever been made between the three lines of
Ladd's?
DLLADD> four, Bonnie
.Bones> oops..
.Charles> The information that I have is that the Ladds in England
were of the same family prior to 1500.
DLLADD> Joseph of RI is supposed to be brother of Daniel of MA
.Bones> ok...that is new info for me..was wondering if there was a
brother connection somewhere in there
.Charles> Don what is your source. New to me too.
DLLADD> This was a chart starting with LADDE prior to 1400 or about
hat time
DLLADD> his son John 1440
DLLADD> John LADD of 1440 had three sons:
.Bones> Donald what county in England did they come from? I am showing
Devonshire, Ipswich or Wiltshire
DLLADD> oops of 1470
.Charles> They came from Kent county.
DLLADD> County Kent
.Charles> They drive on the wrong side of the road.
.Bones> Kent.. ok, but now I show Daniel Ladd as being born in
Wiltshire..is that what you show?
DLLADD> Charles over there the word Count comes first
.Charles> Thats what I said they drive on the wrong side of the road.
.Charles> They talk funny too.
DLLADD> I have a book "Lest We Forget" by John C. LADD
.Janet> Larry sent me some great information on the Highland South of
Arkansas. Another name for Hillbillies.
.Charles> What did John C. want us not to forget.
DLLADD> He said Daniel b. 1613 on farm near Deal
.Bones> and that would be in Kent. Hmmmmm.. need to change the list I
am on in England. lol
DLLADD> oh rest of title A Family Saga
.Charles> I got a message today from a guy who is working the Stone
family.
DLLADD> in summer 1632 father lost life at sea
DLLADD> oldest brother became head of family
DLLADD> brother and Daniel not compatible
.Bones> does it give the brother's name?
DLLADD> brother gave gave Daniel and younger brother Joseph mony to
git
.Charles> Solomon Stone that is. The one who m. Elizabeth Ladd the d/o
Noble.
.Janet> That could be helpful.
.Charles> yes he has already helped and I was able to help him.
.Bones> that's quite a story Donald.. thanks. Had not heard any of
that before. I had come across a chart that listed a Nathaniel Ladd as
the father to Daniel.
DLLADD> Warren book say John of NJ and John of VA may have been only
ones closely related? bothe where Quakers?
.Janet> That's always nice, Charles. A little here a little there gets
filled in.
.Bones> Nathaniel, according to this chart, was born in 1595 in
England, Died 1650, possibly in Mass.
.Bones> now I am wondering who this Nathaniel might be on this chart
DLLADD> Bonnie...the sad thing about my story is after John C.
finished his book he destroyed his notes....
.Bones> that is sad. Nothing to back up what he has written..bummer.
DLLADD> he may have had more in them than he actually put in the book
DLLADD> Bonnie, I also have a son listed for Daniel named Joseph....do
you?
.Bones> let me take a quick peek
DLLADD> b. abt 1639
.Bones> yes.. born in 1639 in Ipswich, MA, died in Portsmouth, NH.
That is all I have tho
DLLADD> all the other children have a marriage record and actual
birthdates but not Joseph
.Bones> that is all I have found too
DLLADD> He might have left home at an early age and that is why
DLLADD> not in Haverhill Vital Records
.Bones> could very well be the story.
DLLADD> Joseph of RI not in records before 1642 a deed record then
DLLADD> Joseph, bro of Daniel did not sail with Daniel on the Mary &
John
.Bones> I have come across a few things that also states that
Nathaniel was in Rhode Island at some point also. Was listed as one of
the co-founders of Providence, RI along with Roger Williams
DLLADD> but stayed whith the chattle { goods, animals etc, and
followed on the Hercules a few days later
.Bones> interesting stuff!
DLLADD> John has a very precise book following from Daniel down to him
and his children
DLLADD> They live in Salem Oregon
.Bones> is this book still to be found? I have the Warren Ladd book
right now..and also a little blue book of the Roger Williams line
which is direct down to my father
DLLADD> most of [all] of the LADDs that I have talked to out here seem
to be of the NE stock
DLLADD> One might be of the VA stock she was asking me about an Amos
DLLADD> didn't seem to be Amos in the NE line
.Bones> yes..a part of my line migrated also to California in the
1860's - 1870's
DLLADD> my straight line back born lived and died in Ohio
DLLADD> cept for Ellison
DLLADD> grand uncles...their children scattered to the winds
.Janet> where in California Bonnie?
DLLADD> there are actually quite a few LADD names to be found in all
parts of Oregon
.Bones> Hazen Ladd (brother to my gg grandfather) & Sarah Ann Pervier.
They are buried in San Francisco Mine moved from the Mass./NH area to
Illinois..then MN/Wisc/California and W. Virginia
.Janet> That's a couple of hours from me--San Francisco that is.
.Bones> I actually have a picture of Hazen and Sarah..
DLLADD> Bonnie, I have Hazen as married to Sarah Jane PURVIS Belnap
Co. NH
.Bones> their son Edward is buried in the Mineral Cemetery in Mineral,
Illinois
.Bones> they were married Sept 1837 in New Hampshire.. the name on her
picture reads Pervier
DLLADD> says Sarah Jane died Riley Co KS
.Bones> yes...my Sarah died in Riley Co, KS
DLLADD> Hazen Jr died Keats, Riley Co KS 25 Oct 1903
.Bones> that would be their son
.Bones> I also have him listed
DLLADD> middle name Churchill?
.Bones> yes..middle name is Churchill... born September 04,
1841..married to Mary Adeline Uptegrove
DLLADD> Hazen Sr, s/o Josiah LADD & Mary "Polly" GALE?
.Bones> one and the same
DLLADD> do you have actual bd for the children of Hazen and Sarah?
.Charles> Hey Janet i am talking to Tom Ladd.
DLLADD> only one i have is Hazen Churchill
DLLADD> Which Tom, Charles?
.Bones> I have years of birth for most..
.Bones> sister Jennie Ladd was born Sept 3, 1854
DLLADD> Bonnie You have just years, or day Mon & year?
.Bones> I show five children.. of the five I only have full birthdates
for Hazen Churchill and his sister Jennie..the other three I only have
the year of birth
DLLADD> I don't have a Jennie
.Bones> Jennie is the youngest.. born Sept 3 1854
DLLADD> just Helen N. Frank F Edwin D and Hazen Jr
.Bones> yes.. Edwin D. died when he was 15 yrs.. he is buried in the
Mineral Cemetery, in Mineral, IL.
.Charles> Tom Ladd who is of the Joseph Line of Ladds that lives in
KY.
.Bones> it was shortly after Edwin's death that they moved to
California
.Janet> Which Joseph Charles?
.Charles> He sent me an instant message. He procrastinated for years
about the computer and now he is excited about it.
.Charles> Your Joseph - He is a cousin of Elise Semrad.
.Charles> His addres is TALLadd.
.Janet> He should join us here! And on the mailing list! Oh, yes, I
remember you mentioning him! Nephew to Joyce Johnson!
.Charles> yes thats him. He is sending me some stuff written by him
and another article written by Joyce to put in the news letter.
.Janet> I have a binder full of letters and info Joyce and I shared.
.Bones> Donald are Hazen & Sarah part of your line?
DLLADD> no I just like to have my nose in the LADD research
.Bones> lol..works for me. Have been following the stories on the
Virginia Ladds myself
.Janet> Is Tom on AOL? Maybe it's TLLadd@aol.com??
.Charles> It may be.
.Janet> Now, if it's good stuff, I don't want to wait until the next
newsletter comes out.
DLLADD> if TLLADD it must be AOL we are the only ones that can shorten
our address to one another
.Bones> have any of you come across a Scott or Jerry Ladd? They both
live in the Florida area..
Ladd Genealogy Chat, January 19th, 19:06:03 in three parts.
Part 3 of 3

.Charles> O.K. - by the way Elise agreed to serve in her appointed
postion. I haven't heard Don say that.
DLLADD> I wrote to a LeRoy LADD in Texas but he never answered me
.Janet> I think Sam Ladd may be from Florida.
.Bones> yes I did see him.. the reason I ask is that I believe Scott &
Jerry Ladd are cousins of mine..their grandfather was my grandfather's
brother..
DLLADD> Sam was born in Putnam Co Florida
.Bones> am trying to find them..that part of our family disconnected
in the 1930's and we are trying to locate them again..
DLLADD> I was born in Putnam Co Ohio
.Janet> Post that on the mailing list Bonnie.
.Bones> I will..thanks
.Charles> Mary O. Olson agreed.
.Janet> Charles, I should send you some of what Ann Potts sent about
her grandfather being on the move from the revenuers. We'd have to ask
first though. She has some relatives still living who are nearly
.Janet> 100 years old.
.Charles> I am looking at a placard that my wife posted above my
computer. It says my husband is 1/2 Indian and 1/2 Pitt Bull Dog. If
he isn't on the warpath he is setting on his butt growling.
.Janet> LOL
.Bones> I like that Charles!
.Janet> Kind of like: Some mornings I wake up grouchy, other mornings
I let him sleep.
.Charles> Lol Janet. Aren't I cool?
DLLADD> here is one:
.Janet> Way Cool!
DLLADD> GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT LIFE
DLLADD> THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED
DLLADD> 1. Raising teenagers is like trying to nail Jell-O to a tree.
DLLADD> 2. There's always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to
look
DLLADD> for it. For example, I am sitting here thinking how nice it is
DLLADD> that wrinkles don't hurt.
DLLADD> 3. Reason to smile: Every seven minutes of every day, someone

DLLADD> 4. The best way to keep kids at home is to make the home a

DLLADD> 5. Families are like fudge...mostly sweet with a few nuts.
DLLADD> 6. Middle age is when you choose cereal for the fiber, not the

DENISEDREW> I'm back from my swimming lessons. Did I miss anything
important??
.Bones> Hi Denise! :-)
.Charles> i knew if I hung around things would liven up.

DENISEDREW> Thats the one Donald
.Janet> Charles, in the stuff I sent you, I sent a family sheet for
Milton Ladd and his wife Mary (or Polly, a nickname for Mary). There
are five children listed but Mary reports that she had nine children,
.Janet> so four are missing--may have died young.
.LaddofOhio@aol.c> Dudley served as soldier in RW served with 1st NH
Regiment @ the battle of Bunker Hill as a fifer for his Uncle Capt
HUTCHINS' company
.Charles> I keep hearing voices that say "Charles are you still on the
internet?
.LaddofOhio@aol.c> Bethia d/o Col Gordon HUTCHINS
.Janet> My grandma mentioned Aunt Polly. I'm nearly positive that
Milton and Constantine were brothers--I know you are too. Is that
little voice coming from the other room?
.Charles> Then I heard company come in and "Charles we are waiting for
you to get off the chat box" Guess I had better go - had fun.
