there was a connection between my Constantine in Terre Haute in 1812
and yours.

great great grandmother was Sarah (Williams) Allen Patterson, her
mother was Deborah Williams
BONES95> she was the daughter of Squire Williams
AUDRALEE> Thanks. My oldest Williams was Daniel from Pottsville, PA
born
AUDRALEE> abt 1850. His two daughters married Milford C. Ladd, one
sister died early and twelve years later he married her sister.

to the mid 1630's here in the U.S. I do have a Daniel Williams but he
was born in the very late 1600's. He was the son of Roger Williams

AUDRALEE> Rhode Island is pretty close to PA; could be familiy
ties--but that's the problem with Williams -- there's so dang many of
them.

Island, he along with several others, including Nathaniel Ladd
co-founded Providence, R.I.

AUDRALEE> That is interesting. The Van Houten (above mentioned) who
married leonard Ladd has forefathers that founded Springfield, Mass.
Looks like these Ladds have been some of the foundation of this
country

Josiah Ladd's things.. from a Hawaii newspaper.. references Ladds

was in

AUDRALEE> Indiana; but she commutes to Hawaii to practice--long

little girls and no one has ever heard from them since

AUDRALEE> The hard part of genealogy is the female ancestors. I found
a good book this weekend on "discovering your female ancestors

AUDRALEE> It encourages working on the females and getting all the
info out on them as they have always been so forgotten

AUDRALEE> So far it's pretty good - only started. Lots of good hints,
but when do you get time to put them into action?

AUDRALEE> One hint: women's signatures on petitions to congress
collected between 1834 and 1843
.Janet> That sounds interesting Audralee!
AUDRALEE> Would be found in National Archives
.Lee> I think I'm going to need all the resources and hints I can get
to try and track these cousins
AUDRALEE> You might try divorce records from the court of county where
they split up; any modification to visitation, alimony, etc. needs
proof of service listing addresses.
AUDRALEE> That would take you up to the date when the youngest child
reached majority and maybe beyond if the wife is still collecting
alimony
.Lee> She never got ANYTHING!
AUDRALEE> Maybe they filed a contempt of court????
.Lee> Other than the divorce itself I don't know what might be on
record
.Lee> I can only guess it probably was filed in this state
.Lee> This was back in the 40's from what I think I know
AUDRALEE> you need the county they last lived in together
.Lee> The only one left alive that might remember anything is my
mother
.Lee> And I don't think she would know much as she wasn't living here
at the time and her knowledge would be limited to whoever in the
family was letting info drop at the time....
AUDRALEE> Lee, it sounds like a good mystery to solve, finding the
mother and two girls. A real challenge

AUDRALEE> I know. I was doing good when I started with my four
grandparents--now, I have about sixteen looseleaf folders all needing
my immediate attention.
.Bonnie> but those are the fun ones.. I just found some long lost
cousins..males..but that part of the family had been separated since
the 1930's. Was so wonderful to meet them and they were happy to be
found

either a brother or a cousin, had a manuscript that was on her LADD
line, I was hoping that he would share that information on the LDG

are first cousins...and have been working together on our line..

by someone else years ago. It was sent to my Dad. I have copied most
of it in my notes.

Mrs. Bonner, who did quite a bit of research on Christopher.

dads and their sisters I believe each got one

MARYELADD> Yes, I have two brothers. But they are not working on our
tree.

site.  Christopher, 1 male 1780-1790, 1 female 1810-1820

AUDRALEE> Oh, good; this is great.

1810-1820, 1 female 1820-1825.
.Janet> There's some concern on that one...could be a brother or
brother-in-law in there.
.Donald> No Mary I just collect any and all LADD information...in case

MARYELADD> No, it's my dad's. But actually my sister was hanging on to
it.

1810-1820.
AUDRALEE> yes, the "H" I haven't seen before. I know a William D. and
a William J.
MARYELADD> My sister also has the book "The Ladd Family 1890" by
Warren Ladd. She started tracing the family then I got into it.
.Janet> Audralee, I'll try to email you and see what else I might have
that you can use. I am assuming these are his sons. I spent some time
thinking Christopher might have been Constantine's father.
