     Jonesville - Alton R. LADD, Sr., 77, of 1036 Milnes Road, Jonesville,
died Sunday (May 21, 1989) in the Hillsdale Community Health Center.
     Born in Ottawa, Ohio, on Oct. 24, 1911, to Clyde and Flora RICKARD
LADD, he lived the majority of his life in Jonesville.
     Having attended Jonesville High School, he was a former farmer and was
also employed at Esterline and Leach and Esterline Farm Service,
Jonesville; then retired from Midwest of Michigan in Allen; and was a
member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Hillsdale.
     On Oct. 31, 1940, he married the former Mary LITTLE, she survives.
     Other survivers include three daughters, Mrs. Edd (Ruth "Sue") MOORE,
Mrs. Herman (Flora "Sally") MOORE, and Ellen LADD, all of Jonesville; one
son, Alton LADD, Jr., Springfield, Mo.; 
two sisters, Mrs. Frances (Esther) GRATZ, Frontier, ;and Mrs. Doris BURK,
Quincy; one brother, Arthur LADD, Hillsdale; eitht grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
     Preceding him in death were four brothers and two sisters.
     The graveside servicde will be at 11 am Wednesday in Sunset View
Cemetery, Jonesville, with Edward E. Gloor officiating.  Friends may call
anytime Tuesday at the Eagle Funeral Home, Jonesville.
     Memorials are suggested to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
