     Arthur L. LADD, a farmer of 3191 W. Bacon, died Wednesday (June 21,
1995) at his residence.  He was 89.
     Born in Putnam County, Ohio, Dec. 27, 1905, the son of Clyde and Flora
RICKARD LADD, he moved to this area 56 years ago.
     Mr. Ladd was a former 38-year member of the Hillsdale Township board,
and a former member of the Carter School board and the ASCS board.
     On Dec. 7, 1925, he married the former Hazel MOHR in Flint, and she
survives.
     Also surviving are two daughters, Velma COOK, Hillsdale, and Margaret
DUNTON< Reading; five sons, Paul, Gerald and Ted, all of Hillsdale, Donald
of Jerome, and Duane of Portage; two sisters, Ester GRATZ, Hillsdale and
Doris BURK, Quincy; 24 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
     Preceding him in death were two sisters and five brothers.
     The funeral will be at 1 pm Friday in the St. John-White Funeral Home,
Reading, with the Rev. Harvy Thomas officiating.  Burial is in Bankers
Cemetery.  Friends may call after noon today with visitation from 7-9 pm at
the funeral home.  
     Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County, (Michigan)
