Elizabeth Ladd EXETER - Elizabeth (Betty) Ladd, 79, a longtime resident of Durham, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Riverwoods of Exeter after a brief illness. She had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease for several years. She was born Elizabeth Nemiah in Hanover and grew up there. They lived in Durham until 1994, when they moved to Exeter as some of the first residents of Riverwoods. Mr. Ladd died in 1995. She played a role in the musical life of the Seacoast area. She gave piano lessons to school-age children in Durham for nearly 20 years, from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s. She was also a member of several choral groups, notably Amare Cantare in the 1970s and 1980s. In addition to her musical interests, she did volunteer work in various areas and was an enthusiastic gardener. She is survived by two sons, Bob of Edinburgh, Scotland, and John of Denver; and seven grandchildren in three countries. A daughter, Kathy of Toronto, died in 1992.
