Karl Ladd
SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Karl P. Ladd, 92, of 83 Young St., died Thursday, Sept. 18, 1997 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Barnstable, Mass.
Born in Eugene, Ore. on July 22, 1905, he was the son of Harry and Sarah (Thompson) Ladd. He formerly resided in Epping, N.H., Woburn and Reading, Mass. and moved to South Berwick in 1957. He had been staying with his daughter in Hyannis, Mass. for the past nine months.
He was a 1928 graduate of the University of New Hampshire and was an active member of the UNH Alumni Association. In 1995, Karl was recognized as the oldest alumni present at the reunion and also was awarded the Alumni Meritorious Service award in 1979.
Prior to his retirement, he was chief engineer for the General Electric Co. in Somersworth and was a member of the G.E.E.A.
Karl was a 32nd degree mason and was a member of the John Sullivan Lodge of Masons in Epping.
He was formerly active with the South Berwick Water District and formerly served with the local Red Cross chapter.
His wife, Florence C. (Mitchell) Ladd who died in 1989. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy V. Ricker; her husband, Sam Ricker; and a grandson, Jake Ricker, all of Hyannis, Mass.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., South Berwick.
The funeral service is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Ladd Family Cemetery, Epping.
Those who wish are invited to make memorial donations to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central and Outer Cape Cod, 1600 Falmouth Ave., Centerville, Mass. 02632.
