     Litchfield - Leroy D. LADD, 64, of 1243 S. County Line Road, Clarendon
Township, died Sunday (Oct. 20, 1985) in the Coldwater Community Health
Center following a short ilness.  He was a farmer, and he retired from
Simpson Industries, Litchfield.  He was also a former employee of McGraw
Edison, Albion.
     He was born in Litchfield Township, Nov. 28, 1920, the son of Leck and
Mary ELY LADD.  He was a lifelong resident of the Litchfield area, and had
served with the U.S. Army during World War II.  He was a former member of
both Litchfield and Quincy American Legion Posts.  An active camper, he was
host at High Banks Campground near Baldwin this summer.
     On Oct. 31, 1943, he married Lois ANDERSON.  She survives, as do three
daughters, Linda LADD of Albion, Mrs. Christopher (Brenda) McWATTERS of
Tennessee, and Mrs. Brian (Zella) COOK of Litchfield; two brothers, Clyde
of Homer and Robert of Coldwater; and 14 grandchildren.  One sister
preceded him in death.
     The funeral service will be at 1 pm Wednesday in the George White
Funeral Home, Litchfield.  The Rev. Clyde Wonders will officiate, and
burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Litchfield, where the Litchfield
American Legion Post #279 will conduct graveside military rites.
     Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9.
